DUSHANBE, August 28, 2009, Asia-Plus  — An international working meeting to discuss the results of survey entitled “Management of the Power Industry Sector in Tajikistan: EGI (Electricity Governance Indicator Toolkit) Method Use Outcomes” is opening in Dushanbe today,

The meeting is held under financial support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan) and the World Resources Institute.

According to press release issued by OSI/AF-Tajikistan, the survey was conducted by the Association of Power Engineering Specialists of Tajikistan, the Consumers’ Union of Tajikistan as well as experts in the fields of energy, legislation and social issues.

Representatives from the government institutions, power companies, business sectors, international and non-governmental organizations as well as specialists from foreign power companies have been invited to attend the meeting.

The report of the research group for Tajikistan describing management of the power industry sector in the country as well as the extent of the public participation, legal and legislative aspects of political process in management of the power industry, assessment of the power industry sector management and social aspects in the power industry sector will be presented during the meeting.
