DUSHANBE, July 13, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Fourteen persons have been killed and seven others have been injured in nine traffic accidents that have been reported in the country over the past weekends, according to the Tajik traffic police directorate.

Five traffic accidents were registered in the country on July 11 and ten persons were killed and five others were injured in those accidents.

On Sunday July 12, four traffic accidents were registered in Tajikistan and four persons, including two minors, were killed and two other persons were injured in those accidents.

The fatal traffic accidents, involving children, were reported in Khatlon’s Vose district and Sughd’s Asht district on Sunday.

In the Vose district, Mercedes, moving from Kulob to Dushanbe hit the 6-year-old boy Muhammadjon Karim, who died on the way to hospital.      

In the Asht district, UAZ moving along the street in the village of Punghoz ran into a wall that fell over the six-year-old girl who was playing near it.  The girl died on the way to hospital.

Another traffic accident, involving 12-year-old girl, took place on Sunday on the highway from Khujand to Konibodom.  Daewoo Matiz that was moving from Khujand to Konibodom fell into the ditch.  One of passengers sustained serious injuries and died on the way to hospital, while the driver and the 12-year-old Guljahon Aliboyev were taken to the hospital, the source said.
