DUSHANBE, July 13, 2009, Asia-Plus — Launched last month, repairs to a number of roads in Dushanbe are scheduled to be finished by August 15, September 1 and December 1 of this year, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, rehabilitation of the streets of Muchurin, Kamongaron (formerly Zavodskaya), and Bofanda is scheduled to be completed by August 15, repairs to the streets of Loiq Sherali, Mirzo Tursunzoda and Nemat Qaraboyev will be finished by September 1 and rehabilitation of the Titov Street will be completed by December 1.
The Dushanbe mayor’s office has allocated more than 28 million somoni (TJS) for rehabilitation of roads, the spokesman said.
As it had been reported earlier, several roads in Dushanbe were closed for traffic due to repairs that began on June 29.
The right side of the Nemat Qaraboyev Street (from the Saadi Sherozi Street to the Jomi Street), the Titov Street (from the Ahmadi Dominsh Street to the Julius Fuchik Street), and the Tursunzoda Street (from the Shota Rustaveli to the Loiq Sherali Street) were closed for traffic. Besides, repair work also hit traffic along the streets of Kamongaron, Bofanda (from the Academicians Rajabov Street to the Valamt-zoda Street), Michurin (from Huseinzod Street to the Academicians Rajabov Street), and Loiq Sherali (from the Roudaki Avenue to the Tursunzoda Street). The mentioned streets will be disrupted till the work is completed.
