KULOB, January 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — Almost 90% of prepared for the 2009 of cotton seeds in Kulob region lower that limit of allowable quality, the Habibullo Kuliev, key specialist of state seed inspection in Khatlon’s Kulob region. He explained that such seeds specialist call “conditional crops”.
“When we do not have not only elite seeds but also seeds of 3
rd
reproduction, then the farms use those “conditional crops”, as long as to be cropped”, he said. He associate with that problem fail of cotton growers for the last years.
According to him, from the moment of feedstock of seeds for the 2009, the regions plants have processed raw product of elite quality only 81 tons, 1

reproduction – nearly 600 tons, 2

reproduction – 163 tons, 3
rd
reproduction – 618 tons, and nearly 6000 tons – for feedstock of seed of “conditional crops”.
