KHOROG, January 19, 2011, Asia-Plus — In 2010, 314 crimes were reported in Gorno Badakhshan, which is 21.1 percent, or 74 cases, fewer than in 2009, the GBAO chief prosecutor Arabsho Siddiqov announced at a news conference in Khorog on January 18.

According to him, some 86.1 percent of all the crimes were solved compared to 84.1 percent in 2009.

At the same time, cases of misprision of crimes by law enforcement agencies were reported in the region last year, the GBAO chief prosecutor noted.

“Local prosecutors conducted 114 inspections last year and 944 rulings and 932 protests were handed down,” Siddiqov said, adding that as a result of the inspections, administrative action was imposed on 249 persons and 77 criminal proceedings were instituted.

Over the report period, financial damage worth more than 1.8 million somoni was reportedly detected.  715,000 somoni have been reimbursed to date.
