DUSHANBE, January 19, 2209, Asia-Plus — By government’ s resolution of January 19 Sanat Rahimov, formerly executive director of the energy projects management unit, was appointed to head Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding, replacing Sharifkhon Samiyev, Asia-Plus ahs learned from Nozir Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik.
According to him, Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov has introduced Mr. Rahimov to staff members with Barqi Tojik’s head office today. Yodgori further added that all six deputy heads of the power holding had also been dismissed by government’s resolution.
We will recall that the president sacked the Barqi Tojik head Sharifkhon Samiyev on January 15 for serious shortcomings in his work. Speaking at a January 15 government session to review the country’s economic results in 2008, President Emomali Rahmon expressed concern about large energy losses that amounted to 2.9 billion somoni last year.
