DUSHANBE, January 19, 2009, Asia-Plus  — According to the report on the country’s strategic development posted on presidential press service, construction of 11 large enterprises in Khatlon’s Yovon and GBAO’s Darvoz districts as well as in the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan) will start in the near future under the program for the use of domestic raw materials for aluminum production.

This program is implemented due to cooperation of Tajik Aluminum Company (Talco) with its partners from Australia, Canada, China and Kazakhstan.

Introduction of these enterprises into operation will allow creating 30,000-35,000 new jobs in the country, the press service said.

Construction of two plants for producing cryolite and aluminum fluoride in Tajikistan is expected to be finished in May 2009.

We will recall that Talco, Talco Management and China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CNHMC) on May 20 2008 signed an agreement in Beijing on construction of two plants for producing cryolite and aluminum fluoride in Tajikistan.  The plants will be built in the Yovon district and the Chinese company pledged it self to construct the plants in a year.  It is to be noted that under the program for the use of domestic raw materials, during he next five years, more than 60 percent of raw materials necessary for production of aluminum will be produced inside the country.

In the meantime, work on rehabilitation of the lines for production of caustic soda and liquid chlorine at Tajikkhimprom (Tajik chemical industry) is nearing completion, according to the press service.

Besides, construction of spinning mills is progressing in the country.  Two such enterprises in Yovon and Khujand are practically ready for operation, while construction of the spinning mills in Spitamen and Mastchoh districts are still going on.  These enterprises will have a total capacity of processing 20,000 tons of cotton into manufactured goods per year.
