DUSHANBE, January 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — Compared to 2001 Tajikistan’s macroeconomic indices rose four times in 2008, according to presidential press service.
Gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to rise 7.1 percent in the year to December 31 2009, reaching 20.665 billion somoni, while inflation for 2009 will stand at 13 percent.
The budget for 2009 stands at more than 6 billion somoni, which is 1.9 billion somoni more than in 2008 and 26 times more than in 1999.
President Rahmon said the 2009 national budget indicators reflected the economic development of the country. The real sector of production accounts for more than 50 percent of budget allocations, the press service said. These funds will go to promoting construction of facilities of the nationwide significance, including hydropower plants, power grids, industrial enterprises, roads and tunnels.
