DUSHANBE, April 4, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A soldier of one of border units deployed in Hamadoni district, Khatlon province was shot by a colleague who then turned the gun on himself after a row, according to one of Tajik law enforcement agencies.

The source says the incident took place on April 2.  According to him, the shooting in the border unit has involved personal issues.

“Ismoil Ilyosov, 20 shot Saymurod Olimqulov, 20, to death before taking his own life,” said the source.  “Both soldiers were from Istaravshan district, Sughd province; they were conscripted in 2009.”

The main military prosecutor’s office is holding an inquest.
