DUSHANBE, August 29, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tethys Petroleum Limited (Canada) has launched an aerogeophysical survey in southwest Tajikistan, within the limits of the contract territory, Sitora Hasanova, public relations manager, Tethys Petroleum Tajikistan said.

The survey is conducted to get authentic information about relief of a consolidate basis and subsalt surface of carbonate upper Jurassic sediments.

“Implementation of a complex of regional aerogeophysical surveys will allow rationally planning execution of seismic operations,” Hasanova said.

Tethys Petroleum Limited is an oil and gas exploration and production company currently focused on Central Asia with projects in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.  It is the only independent oil and gas company operating in all three Republics.

The strategy for Tethys in Tajikistan is to develop shallow oil and gas potential for early cash flow whilst simultaneously acquiring seismic data and building a geological model with the intention of farming out the higher risk more expensive exploration targets to other oil and gas companies.

Tethys Petroleum owns 51% of Kulob Petroleum Limited, the 100% owner of the Bokhtar PSC, with the Operator being Tethys Services Tajikistan.  The Company”s office in Tajikistan is located in Dushanbe.
