DUSHANBE, January 19, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tax officer has been detained with a large amount of heroin in the outskirts of Dushanbe.
Anvarjon Aliyev, an acting head of the Interior Ministry directorate for combating drug trafficking (drug police), told Asia-Plus that an operation carried out by drug police officers yesterday led to the arrest of the 61-year-old officer from the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan. “Nearly two kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him and more than six kilograms of heroin were found in his car,” Aliyev said.
On the same day, 39-year-old D.G. was detained with 4.756 kilograms of hashish in Dushanbe, the drug police chief added.
Tajik police have reportedly sized more than 90 kilograms of narcotics this month, which 40 kilogram more than in January 2011.
