DUSHANBE, January 31, 2012, Asia-Plus — 40 of 140 incumbent school principals in Dushanbe are expected to be replaced, according to the Dushanbe education directorate.
“A special commission has been set up for replacement of school principals,” said an official source at the Dushanbe education directorate. “The commission has assessed professionalism of school principals holding those positions for five and more years and recommended to replace 40 of them.”
According to him, the commission has taken into consideration achievements made by schools and participation of school students in city, republican and international school Olympiads. The commission members have also taken into account the professionalism of teachers and infringements committed by school students.
The decision to replace school principals holding these positions for five and more years is reportedly also aimed at preventing corruption in Dushanbe’s schools.
We will recall that Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev has offered to replace school principals and hospital head physicians holding these positions for five and more years. The mayor held the meeting on January 23 to discuss the implementation of president’s orders and instructions on promoting socioeconomic development of the capital city.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, has noted the meeting, in particular, considered issues related to issuance of faked school-leaving certificates by a number of high schools in Dushanbe and juvenile delinquency in the city.
