DUSHANBE, February 1, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tojik Sodirot Bank (TSB) has announced completion of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) within the framework of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) lending project, TSB’s website reports.

According to report posted on the TSB’s website, from the fourth quarter of 2009 to the end of 2011, Tojik Sodirot Bonk was one of the main partners of the EBRD in developing lending to small and medium-sized enterprises in Tajikistan.  The project was implemented under technical support from the Swiss consulting company, BFC.

“The EBRD project has been implemented successfully and we intend to continue development of lending to SMEs,” Daler Ikromov, the deputy head of the TSB crediting department and coordinator of the SME lending project with TSB, said.

Tojik Sodirot Bonk is the third-largest bank in terms of total assets in Tajikistan.  TSB was established in December 1990 as the Tajik branch of the Vnesh Econom Bank of the former Soviet Union, and it initially specialized in trade and import-export banking.  Later this branch was reorganized into a Joint-Stock Commercial Bank “Tajikvnesheconombank”. In June 1999 the bank was renamed and registered as Tojik Sodirot Bonk or TSB.

Headquartered in Dushanbe, TSB has 11 branches in the main cities of Tajikistan and covering all regions of the country. TSB has a wide client base of private enterprises in the trade, services, and industry sectors.
