KULOB, February 8, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Five items of religious books sent to the city of Kulob from Iran have been banned from sale in the city.

In a ruling handed down at the Kulob city court on February 7, Mr. Justice Jamshed Ahmadov banned five items of religious books sent to Kulob from Iran from sale in the area.

According to him, 20 items of books, 10 copies in each of packages (totaling 200 books), were sent to one of local booksellers from Iran.  “According to examination carried out by specialists, five items of those books are on the Ministry of Culture (MoC)’s list of books banned from sale in Tajikistan and therefore they were withdrawn from the shelves, the judge said.
