DUSHANBE, April 2, 2012, Asia-Plus  — One person was killed and at least three others were injured Sunday as a car went into oncoming traffic in the Spitamen district, Sughd province.

“The accident took place in the afternoon on the Dushanbe-Khujand-Chanak highway,” said the source at the Interior Ministry traffic police department.  “Opel-Astra driven by Anvarjon Zokirov, 34, went into oncoming traffic and collided with a heavy truck KAMAZ.”

One of passengers of Opel-Astra died on the spot and its driver and two other passengers sustained various injures in the crash and were taken to the central district hospital in Spitamen, the source said.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.
