16-year-old Behruz Sharipov was found guilty in Parviz Davlatbekov’s murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The court said P.Davlatbekov died of stab wounds inflicted by Sharipov. Sharipov will serve his sentence in juvenile correctional facility till he attains his majority.
Other suspects – Sharaf Davlatov and Farruh Samiev, both charged under Article 237 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan, were sentenced to 4 years in prison each.
Another suspect, teenaged Hasan Abdurashidov, was fined 100 reliability indexes (1 index is 40 Somoni).
Judge Fahriddin Dodometov who read the verdict said that Sh.Davlatov’s torture claim was never proved.
“According to the results of medical examination of January 2, 2012, no injuries were found on his body,” the judge said. “Davlatov’s claims were considered in the course of preliminary investigation and were never proved as well.”
Relatives of B.Sharipov, who was sentenced under Article 104 (murder) of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan, disagree with the verdict. His mother Mavluda Sharipova believes her son is not guilty and claims that he suffered pressure. “He said he did not stab anyone. But when we came to the police station again he said he stabbed twice. Now they are talking about the third stab. They threw everything on my son. Look, Parviz was a strong guy and my son is smaller then him. How could he stab him at all? Why they do not say who got the second knife? They threw everything on my son,” the woman was crying after the trial.
Behruz Sharipov’s relatives say they also disagree with the verdict and are planning to file an appeal to the Supreme court.
Sh.Davlatov’s defense attorney Zafar Rasulov also disagreed with the verdict and is planning to appeal against the verdict.
Rustami Joni, representative of the victim, says he is satisfied with the verdict. Parviz Davlatbekov’s aunt Sharifa Hudobahsheva told AP that Behruz Sharipov and other defenders deserve a more severe punishment but said she is not going to appeal the decision taking into account their ages.
