Seminar takes place in Tajik capital on Friday to discuss health improvement issues

DUSHANBE, November 27, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A republican seminar entitled “Community Health – Country Wealth” will be held in Dushanbe tomorrow, according to press service of the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The event is staged by the Government of Tajikistan, MoH and the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Tajikistan Resident Mission in frames of the Participation of Community and Public Informational Campaign for Improvement of the Population Health Project, which is implemented by Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR).

The event will bring together senior representatives of the MoH, local authorities and head physicians of central district hospitals from the pilot districts, as well as heads of ADB’s Tajikistan Resident Mission, WHO Country (CO) Tajikistan, UNICEF CO Tajikistan as well as a number of other international organizations active in the country to discuss the health improvement issues, the source said. 

The goal of the Participation of Community and Public Informational Campaign for Improvement of the Population Health Project is to improve access to and use of innovative health care promoted under the Health Sector Reform Project (HSRP) by the poor population, in particular by the poorest, women with reproductive age, mothers, and children. To achieve the goal, the project aims to strengthen public information on and community and family participation in determining, implementing, and monitoring health needs, practice and services.
