DUSHANBE, November 27, 2008, Asia-Plus  — By prime minister’s resolution and a joint instruction issued by the ministries of transport and interior a schedule has been set for moving through the Anzob Tunnel and the Shahriston Pass in the Sughd province, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC).

The source at a MoTC said the measures had been introduced to ensure safety of traffic along the highway from Dushanbe to Khujand, following onset of cold weather and icy condition of roads.

According to him, the Anzob Tunnel is now open for traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the Shahriston Pass from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“Thee restrictions do not apply to vehicles with two and more drive shafts (trucks),” the source said.
