UN Deputy Secretary General to visit Tajikistan

Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and the Executive Director of the UN Department for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yuri Fedotov, will arrive to Tajikistan on May 30.

As reported by the Tajik Drug Control Agency, Mr.Fedotov will travel from Afghanistan to Khorog and will arrive to Dushanbe in the evening.

“In Dushanbe head of UNODC is scheduled to take part in celebration of the 13th anniversary of the Tajik Drug Control Agency and will meet with Tajik officials,” the source reports.

According to the source, celebration of the 13th anniversary of the Tajik Drug Control Agency will include international drug control conference in which drug control officials from Central Asia, Russia, Afghanistan and representatives of international organizations accredited in Tajikistan are scheduled to take part. The conference will be held on May 31.

“Additionally, top drug control officials from Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan will meet in Dushanbe to discuss joint drug control efforts,” the source added.
