DUSHANBE, October 17, 2012, Asia-Plus  — A tripartite meeting of the presidents of Tajikistan (Emomali Rahmon), Afghanistan (Hamid Karzai) and Iran (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) took place in Kuwait yesterday on sidelines of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit.

In the course of the talks, Emomali Rahmon, Hamid Karzai and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reportedly expressed interest in participation in joint projects in the fields of energy and transportation.

Yesterday evening, Emomali Rahmon also held a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the two discussed issues related to construction of roads connecting the two countries, opening of new border-crossing points as well as signing of an agreement between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan on transit of commodities and services.
