DUSHANBE, August 2, Asia-Plus – “The situation in the quake-rocked areas still remains complex, and minor tremors still can be felt there even today,” First Deputy Emergencies Minister, Abdurrahim Rajabov, told a meeting with representatives from international organizations being members of the Rapid Emergency Assessment and Coordination Team (REACT) on August 2.   

According to him, a sanitary situation in the disaster-affected areas evokes a special concern.   “If adequate measures to improve the sanitary situation there are not taken today, outbreaks of infections diseases may spread soon,” Abdurrahim Rajabov noted.

According to him, representatives from many international organizations are currently in the quake-rocked areas to assess what kind of assistance the disaster-hit population needs.
