DUSHANBE, May 21, Asia-Plus — A traditional annual National Race Day was held in Tajikistan on May 20.

Vamarij Murodov, a spokesman for Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC), told Asia-Plus that this year, the National Race Day was held under the motto of “Healthy Lifestyle.”

Sports veterans, disabled people, students as well as representatives from the Dushanbe mayor’s office, NOC, youth and sports committee under the Tajik government, and representatives from diplomatic missions and international organizations active in the country took part in this event.

Tajik cellular operator Babilon-M had prepared 20,000 T-shirts and baseball caps with the National Race Day’s symbols for the most active participants of the race.

According to NOC, some 150,000 people across the country took part in the National Race Day.  Last year, some 100,000 people in all regions of the country took part in this event.

The National Race Day has been held in Tajikistan since 1996.
