DUSHANBE, June 25, Asia-Plus — The number of foreign workers affected by food poisoning at the construction of a new terminal at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport has risen to 319 people, Russia’s RIA Novosti said, citing the local emergency service’s spokesman as saying on Sunday. 

According to Muhammad Egamzod, a spokesman for the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, the totaled includes 28 Tajik nationals. 

A case of mass food poisoning hit Turkey’s Enka construction company”s summer camp in the Moscow Region”s Ruzsky district last week.

The affected people have been hospitalized in Himki, Dolgoprudny, Mytishchi, Odintzovo, Zvenigorod, Klin, Dmitrov, Korolyov, Solnechnogorsk and Sergyeyev Pasad, Egamzod said.

Moscow Region”s food safety watchdog said all patients had been diagnosed with salmonella infection.

In all, 1,605 people were resided in the camp at the time of the incident.

Anti-epidemic measures are currently being taken.  

Russia”s chief sanitary official, Gennady Onishchenko earlier said the majority of infected workers were nationals of Georgia, Uzbekistan and other CIS countries.
