DUSHANBE, August 2, Asia-Plus – Delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Tajikistan has donated a car Toyota to a national emergency response team at Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS), Asia-plus has learned from Madina Sayfiddinova, information officer at Tajik RCS.

According to her, Elias Ganemm, Head of the IFRC Delegation in Tajikistan, handed over the car to Tajik RCS on August 1.  

Telling the car-handover ceremony, the RCS secretary general Varqa Okhonniyozov said that it would allow the national team responding opportunely to emergencies.

Okhonniyozov reminded that the national emergency response team had been set up for opportunely responding to, first of all, natural disasters that occur in the country.  “It also facilitates work of the RCS branches in the regions and provides assistance to disaster-affected population,” the RCS secretary general said.  

Okhonniyozov also expressed gratitude to the Swedish, Finnish and British Red Crosses as well as DFID (UK Department for International Development) for provided assistance.
