DUSHANBE, August, 2, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday August 1, a detachment from the United States Marine Corps marked the completion of a training exercise with soldiers from the Main Border Forces Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan with a practical demonstration and awards ceremony at the Border Forces Headquarters. 

According to the US Embassy in Dushanbe, this training is part of an ongoing partnership between the United States Department of Defense and various law enforcement and security agencies of the Government of Tajikistan to increase their capacity to protect Tajikistan’s borders and secure its sovereignty.

In congratulatory remarks at the awards ceremony Ambassador Tracey A. Jacobson noted that “The Border Guards have a real mission of extraordinary difficulty in some of the toughest terrain in the world. The United States is proud to assist them in continuing to develop the skills necessary to successfully carry out this mission.”
