DUSHANBE, March 19, Asia-Plus — On Tuesday March 18, President Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of congratulations to China’s leader Hu Jintao in connection with reelection of him as president, presidential press service said.  

In his message, President Rahmon, in particular, noted that reelection of Hu Jintao as president is evidence of the fact that policy of China’s leadership aimed at strengthening of unity and power of the country and wellbeing of its people enjoys Chinese people’s confidence.  

President Rahmon also expressed hope for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and China.  He also expressed hope that the upcoming state visit of China’s president to Tajikistan would give a new impulse to development of relationships between the two countries.  

We will recall that China”s leader Hu Jintao has been elected for another five-year term as president, after a near-unanimous vote in the National People”s Congress.

The Congress also voted to re-elect Mr. Hu as chairman of China”s powerful Central Military Commission
