DUSHANBE, April 29, Asia-Plus — The Swiss-Tajik Health Care Reform and Family Medicine Support Project is holding its annual planning workshop for 2008-2009 today.
According to the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) Dushanbe office, the aim of the workshop is to present and discuss with community members, doctors, top level officials from the Ministry of Health and representatives on international organizations activities in strengthening family medicine services, planning and management capacities of the staff at primary health care level and increasing community’s participation and responsibility in solving health problems.
The workshop intends to initiate practical discussions and group work led by district health administration to assure that the specific needs of each district are met and activities are coordinated among other stakeholders to avoid duplications. The national planning workshop is seen as one of the elements of mainstreaming good governance principals to assure transparency, participation, accountability, nondiscrimination and efficiency in Project implementation.
The main goal of Sino Project, which is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by Swiss Tropical Institute is to contribute to improvement of the health service delivery in Tajikistan.
The project aims to achieve its goal through development, approbation and implementation of sustainable and accessible Primary Health Care models and Family Medicine services in the pilot districts of Varzob, Danghara, Shahrinav and Tursunzoda.
SDC has been actively supporting the national health care reform in Tajikistan since 2000 through a wide range of projects one of which is Sino project.
