KHOROG, April 29, Asia-Plus — Officers from the GBAO police directorate have warded off any attempt by Afghan drug trafficker to smuggle a large amount of drugs into the region.
Mizrob Dorobov a spokesman for the GBAO police directorate, said that their officers spotted and tried to detain an armed drug trafficker who was crossing the border river near the village of Pish, Shugnan district Monday night. Police officers fired at the trespassers after he tried to flee.
The trespasser managed to return to the Afghan territory,” said the spokesman. “Two packages containing 7.38 kilograms of heroin and 18.7 kilograms of Indian hemp were found at the scene of action.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
