DUSHANBE, May 6, Asia-Plus  — Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said on May 6 that Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev merely called on organizations and enterprises to remit money to the bank account of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Roghun HPS (hydroelectric power station).

Mr. Ubaidulloyev launched this initiative just an ordinary citizen of the capital city within the framework of Year of Constructive Initiatives and City-dwellers’ Responsibility, and by this call he did not intend to impose this decision on other residents of Dushanbe, said the spokesman.

“Therefore, heads of enterprises and organizations do not have the right to make their employees remit their monthly wages,” Saidov noted.
