KULOB, November 4, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On occasion of the Constitution Day, which is marked in Tajikistan on November 6, an organization of the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) for the city of Kulob held a roundtable meeting today.    

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mahmadsharif Nabiyev, the head of the IRPT organization in Kulob, said that the country’s Constitution had allowed establishing  the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan, which is the only Islamic party registered in Central Asia.  According to him, the IRPT organization for the city of Kulob now has more than 300 members.  

Deputy head of the IRP regional organization for Kulob, Abdusamad Ghairatov, noted that the party had established its primary organizations in nine of ten districts of Khatlon’s Kulob region.  “We do not have our primary organization only in the Baljuvon district,” Ghairatov said, noting that the IRPT regional organization for Kulob currently has some 2,000 members.
