DUSHANBE, November 21, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The government has endorsed the pasture development program for 2009-2015, worked out by the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) for enhancement of the livestock sector in the country.

The source at a MoA said that the national budget earmarked 300,000 somoni for implementation of the program in 2009.

According to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics, all categories of farms in the country now have 1,758,958 head of cattle, more than 4.5 million head of sheep and goats, as well as more than 77,000 head of horses.

49 pedigree stock-breeding farms now function in the country.
