DUSHANBE, November 25, 2008, Asia-Plus — Tajik MPs took part at an international conference on international humanitarian law that was held in St. Petersburg on November 24.

Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) for pubic relations, said that the conference, organized by the CIS Inter-Parliament Assembly (IPA) in association with the International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC), had been held on sidelines of events of the CIS IPA, IPA of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) and Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Russian PM Vladimir Putin and the ICRC President Dr Jacob Kellenberger inaugurated the conference

Tajik parliamentary delegation led by the Majlisi Milli Speaker Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev attended the conference and Tajik Ambassador to Russia Abdulmajid Dostiyev delivered a statement at the conference, the aide said.

Monday afternoon, parliamentary discussions on the EAEC concerted policy were held at the CIS IPA Center.

The same day, Tajik parliamentarians took part at the sessions of the CIS IPA and the CSTO PA in St. Petersburg.

Today, the EAEC IPA Bureau is holding its session.
