DUSHANBE, February 20, 2009, Asia-Plus — Imports into Tajikistan are expected to fall 20 percent this year, the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics reported.

In Ukraine and Belarus, imports will also fall 20 percent this year.  In Kyrgyzstan, imports are expected to fall 15 percent this year, Russia’s imports will fall 10 percent, and Kazakhstan and Armenia – 5 percent.

In Azerbaijan and Moldova, imports are expected to remain at the 2008 level.

Over the report period, an average decrease in imports within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is expected to be 10 percent.
