Turkmenistan marks Day of State Flag on 19 February. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has sent a message of congratulations to the people of Turkmenistan on this occasion, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.

“We hold the sacred Flag in high esteem in the epoch of new revival and great achievements when the whole world watches the positive changes in life of our people. We have the world highest flag pole in Ashgabat. The green flag flies high on this pole. It embodies a heart of Motherland, and is uniting and consolidating the people of Turkmenistan,” the message says.

The head of state emphasized that “Turkmen people, who founded over 70 states in its long history, have always honored their flag as a symbol of statehood, sovereignty and happiness.” “We have to continue this ancient tradition and take utmost care of our sacred flag,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

It should be recalled that the day of creation of the state flag has been celebrated as a national holiday since 1995.
