KULOB, April 13, 2009, Asia-Plus — Over the first three months of this year, 1,095 new jobs have been created in the city and the district of Kulob, Kulob Mayor Homid Abdulloyev remarked at a press conference in Kulob on April 12.

According to him, 25 people have been placed in jobs at a new juice-producing shop of the Kulob firm, Zarkham, which also owns the local cotton-ginning factory,

35 another jobs have been created by the local hothouse market-gardening organization.  However, the majority of new jobs (967) have been created by local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

We will recall that the meeting of the Kulob legislature (Majlis) that was held last month considered and endorsed measures to create some 4,700 new jobs in the city and the district of Kulob this year.
