DUSHANBE, April 5, 2009, Asia-Plus — A May 4 meeting of the government, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, reviewed the results of the past four months” work, according to presidential press service.
During the meeting it was noted that implementation of the country’s national budget reached 91 percent of the target for January-April 2009 and gross domestic product (GDP) rose 3.6 percent in four months to April 30, 2009. Inflation for the first four months of this year stood at 1.3-1.4 percent.
Heads of relevant ministries and departments were charged to take adequate measures to ensure fulfillment of the revenue part of the budget and well-timed payment of wages, pensions and allowances.
Rahmon also ordered to accelerate work on introduction of the “One-stop-shop” (OSS) principle in order to support local entrepreneurs.
Touching upon the energy sector, the head of state urged to speed up work on construction of the hydroelectric power plants Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2, beginning of construction of the Nourobod-1 hydropower plant and new Dushanbe heat and power station, as well as construction of 50 small hydropower plants in the provinces.
Rahmon noted that in connection with nationwide shift to energy-saving light bulbs, 16 million somoni would be allocated from the national budget for provision of 241,000 vulnerable families with energy-saving light bulbs by October 1, 2009. He also called on Tajik entrepreneurs to make their contribution to that project.
The government is to allocate funds to provide an extraordinary grant of 350 somoni to each of veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 living in Tajikistan, the press service said.
