DUSHANBE, October 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — On Friday October 16, the first deputy head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Odil Sangov, met with visiting Iranian delegation, led Hamid Ali Mobaraki, vice-governor of Iran’s Sistan-Beluchistan province, and Mohammad Nishati, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of this province, according to the CCI press service.

The purpose of the visit is for the Iranian delegation to establish cooperation with Tajik enterprises, seek business partners for investment in joint projects and launch of joint ventures.

The sides, in particular, discussed opportunities of expansion of cooperation, especially in sectors like hydropower engineering, road building and food industry.  They also discussed cooperation in processing farm produce and semi-precious stones.

Sangov noted that construction of new highways in Tajikistan gave Iranian entrepreneurs an opportunity to export their products to China, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan via Tajikistan.  He added that the bridge across the Panj River joining Tajikistan and Afghanistan built in Nizhny Panj could be used for exporting goods to Iran.

The same day, members of the Iranian delegation met with a number of Tajik entrepreneurs.  Tajik side at the meeting was represented by top managers of the following enterprises: Sultoni Kabir; Gahlla; Rukhom; Tojikcement; Zioyratsho Corp; Dushanbetext; Khurokvori; Vakhsh HPPs Cascade; and Kulob diary factory.
