KULOB, March 4, 2010, Asia-Plus — Residents of Khatlon’s Kulob zone have bought shares in open joint-stock company (OJSC) NBO Roghun for 30.116 million somoni by March 4, Abdukarim Nematov, head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob said.
According to him, residents of the city of Kulob alone have bought shares in Roghun for 9.6078 million somoni.
“25,644,700 somoni worth of shares have been realized through branches of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in the area,” Nematov said.
To raise funds to complete construction of the Roghun HPP the government started to sell shares in Roghun to people on January 6 this year. Tajikistan has issued 6 billion somoni (US$1.37 billion) worth of Roghun shares.
