DUSHANBE, March 5, 2010, Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe independent radio station, Vatan, has announced the launch of a training project for young journalists from among Dushanbe school students. The project will be implemented with support from the Government of Switzerland.
The project coordinator, Ms. Nargis Qosimova, said that the objective of the project was in facilitating formation and development of social information culture of schools students through involvement them in the youthful journalism movement. “This includes new opportunities for socialization of young through dissemination of advanced social and journalistic experience,” said Qosimova, “This is also an opportunity for young people to propagate their ideas in society through media. Besides, the project participants will be able to share experience with persons of the same age, support their creative initiatives, etc.”
Carrying out a large PR campaign in leading Tajik media on attracting attention of the public to children’s and youthful journalism has been chosen as the strategy of implementation of the project. They will conduct the contest for the best essay among school students “I am a Journalist and It Means…” and 10 students with active civil position from 10 Dushanbe’s school will be competitively selected to take training course at the School for Young Journalists.
On completion of the project, they plan to launch a web newspaper of young journalists, permanent children’s program at the radio station Vatan and permanent column to cover children’s problems in the Dushanbe weekly
