DUSHANBE, March 6, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik education sector employees conducted another mass action in Dushanbe on March 5 to support construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP).

More than 500 education sector employees bought shares in open joint-stock company (OJSC) NBO Roghun on March 5, Noilsho Nouraliyev, a spokesman for the ministry of education (MoE), said, noting that it was not the first such action conducted by education sector employees to help Roghun’s construction.

In all, the education sector employees have reportedly bought shares in Roghun for 50.884 million somoni (TJS) by March 6.        

We will recall that the government started to sell shares in Roghun to people on January 6 this year in order to raise funds to complete construction of the Roghun HPP.  Tajikistan has issued 6 billion somoni (US$1.37 billion) worth of Roghun shares.
