DUSHANBE, March 9, 2001, Asia-Plus — Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov is expected to inaugurate a new school in the Khuroson district, Khatlon province today.
According to Noilsho Nouraliyev, a spokesman for the ministry of education (MoE), the school was built in the Jomi jamoat of the district and construction work was conducted at the expense of the MoE construction directorate.
The school that has 12 classrooms and one computer class will accommodate 288 pupils. A total cost of the project is 1.167 million somoni.
The construction company, Niagara-A, has built the school in seven months, the spokesman said, noting that it was already the third school built this year at the expense of the ministry.
According to the MoE data, 3,810 comprehensive schools now function in the country.
