DUSHANBE, March 9, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Police have confiscated a large number of illegally possessed weapons from resident of the Hamadoni district, Khatlon province.

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), when searching house of resident of the Hamadoni district, Nazirmad Gulahmadov, police officers on March 7 found one assault rifle Kalashnikov, one pistol Makarov, RGDP-5 hand grenade and 303 bullets of different caliber.  Besides, 15,000 U.S. dollars were found in his house, the source at a MoI said.

The same day, police officers discovered an arms cache in the Yusuf jamoat of the Yovon district, Khatlon province.  The cache contained one assault rifle Kalashnikov, 100 bullets for Kalashnikov, one revolver, and one hunting carbine TOZ.

In all, police officers discovered 11 firearms, including three assault rifles Kalashnikov, four pistols, four rifles and one grenade launcher, on March 7-8, the source said.
