Uzbekistan will invest US$65.6 million in 2010-2014 to combat tuberculosis in the country, the article of senior phthisiatrician of Uzbek Health Ministry Nargiza Parpiyeva said at Narodnoye Slovo.

Parpiyeva said in her article that the country attracted US$23.3 million to combating this disease in 2001-2009.

Currently, epidemiologic situation on tuberculosis in Uzbekistan is lower by 1.5-2 times compared to other Central Asian states and Russia, the article said.

Intensive prevention works allowed to decrease sickness and death rate from tuberculosis. For last year, sickness rate fell by 15.2% and death rate reduced by 35.7%.
