DUSHANBE, April 22, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, is currently conducting negotiations with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, on leasing two aircraft.

Valery Sharipov, the first deputy director general, Tajik Air, remarked this at a news conference in Dushanbe today.  According to him, Embraer also offers a package of services.  “At the first stage, the aircraft will be operated by pilots of this company,” Sharipov noted.      

Representative of Embraer are expected to arrive in Tajikistan in the near future to consider issues related to exploitation, geography of flights and some other technical issues, the Tajik Air official added.

Embraer (Brazilian Aeronautics Company, Inc.) is a Brazilian aerospace conglomerate that produces commercial, military, and corporate aircraft, and provides related aerospace services.  It is the third-largest aircraft company in the world in terms of yearly delivery of commercial aircraft (behind Boeing and Airbus), and fourth-largest in terms of workforce.


 From 1999 to 2001 it was Brazil”s largest exporter and is still one of the three main exporters in Brazil.

Sharipov also noted that Tajik national air carrier had abandoned it plans to purchase China’s M-60s as they are not fit for operating flights to Gorno Badakhshan.  “We were interested mainly in using this type aircraft for operating flights to Khorog, Gorno Badakhshan,” said he, “Chinese specialists studied the air route from Dushanbe to Khorog and came to a conclusion that M-60 is not fit for operating flights on this route.”

Sahripov added that Tajik Air also intended to lease one more Being 757-200.
