DUSHANBE, April 23, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The 63rd session of the Council of CIS Border Troops Commanders took place in Dushanbe on April 22.

Presided over by Russia’s border service chief Vladimir Pronichev, the meeting considered 20 issues related to cooperation between the border services of the CIS member nations.

According to the Main Border Guards Directorate within Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security (GKNB), the meeting, in particular, discussed joint efforts to counter illegal migration, drug trafficking and terrorism.  The session resulted in the signing of 33 resolutions. 

The Council held its previous meeting in Moldova in October 2009.

Established in 1992, the Council of CIS Border Troops Commanders met in Tajikistan for the first time.
