DUSHANBE, April 23, 2010, Asia-Plus — On Thursday April 22, ten Tajik students received Lomonosov Scholarships instituted by the Russian Development Foundation, Institute for Eurasian Studies.
Based on submissions and recommendations by academic councils of their universities, these students were selected as scholarship recipients for their academic success in the disciplines such as Russian language and literature and arts as well as surveys conducted in 2009.
Students will get scholarships worth US$50.00 per month during a semester (six months).
The scholarship awards ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Yuri Popov, the Institute for Eurasian Studies Development Foundation President Valery Tursunov and a number of Tajik education officials.
Established in May 2005, the Institute for Eurasian Studies Development Foundation opened its first representative office in Tajikistan. It was opened in Khujand, Sughd province in June 2009. Today, the Foundation affiliates operate in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Abkhazia as well.
