DUSHANBE, July 1, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajik government yesterday approved a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation on cooperation in countering trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances.
According to Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA), the endorsement of the agreement promotes further expansion of cooperation between the counternarcotics agencies of the two countries in fighting drug trafficking and preventing drug addiction.
“The agreement provides for exchange of information, carrying out joint operations, and training of personnel,” the source said, adding that DCA plans to open its representative office in Russia in the near future.
In the meantime, the representative office of Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) has functioned in Tajikistan since December 2007.
