DUSHANBE, July 2, 2010, Asia-Plus — The 68-year-old resident of the Russian city of Ryazan, Aleksey Avganov, who is making walking trip from Ryazan to Dushanbe, has got the Tajik city of Isfara in Sughd province.
As it had been reported earlier, Aleksey Avganov dedicates his walking tour to the 65th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany and the 19th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence. In this connection, the Tajik embassy has applied to heads of all Tajik public associations active in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to provide assistance to Aleksey Avganov.
Speaking to Asia-Plus, Aleksey Avganov said he decided to make this tour in order “to experience at least a little bit of hardships our grandfathers and fathers experienced while freeing Europe and Russia.” “Ryazan and Dushanbe are homelands of my mother and father, which means that they are my homelands as well.”
Aleksey Avganov is the son of the World War II veteran from Kulob Amirsho Avganov who accomplished 90 years.
In Isfara, Aleksey Avganov plans to hold meetings with war veterans and representatives of the Russian cultural center.
Aleksey Avganov went to a walking trip from Ryazan to Dushanbe on April 1 this year and during the tour, he traveled to Shatsk, Penza, Syzran, Tolyatti, Samara, Buzuluk, Orenburg and Orsk in Russia, Almaty in Kazakhstan, Bishek in Kyrgyzstan, Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarqand in Uzbekistan.
Aleksey Avganov is expected to reach Dushanbe by Tajikistan’s Independence Day, which is marked on September 9.
