DUSHANBE, July 14, 2010, Asia-Plus  — An extraordinary assessment of professionalism of prosecutors was conducted in Tajikistan recently and 15 employees of prosecutor’s offices were dismissed and 59 others were cautioned to improve their work within six months.

Prosecutor General Sherkhon Salimzoda remarked this at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 13.  According to him, 664 prosecutors have passed through the qualifying evaluation.

On the corruption among prosecutors, he note that prosecutors of Vose and Jilikul districts in Khatlon province as well as the deputy Khatlon prosecutor had been fired for having bee involved in corruption-related crimes.

Asked about personnel turnover in prosecutor’s offices and dismissal of prosecutors being close to the  ex-Prosecutor General Bobojon Bobokhonov, Salimzoda noted that 12 city and district prosecutors as well as three deputy regional prosecutors have been sacked over the first six months.
