KHUJAND, July 15, 2010, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of this year, the northern city of Qairoqqum has produced a total of 87.7419 million somoni worth of industrial gods, which is 16 million somoni more than in the same period last, Qairoqqum Mayor Rajabboy Karimov told reporters n July 14.

According to him, two new industrial enterprises have been launched in the city over the report period – limited liability company, Taminot va K (production of building stones and other building materials), and limited liability company, Shirkati Sanoati Kuhii Tojikistonu Khitoi (Tajik-Chinese Mining Company).  16 industrial enterprises now operate in the city.

Over the same six-month period, Qairoqqum has reportedly produced 871.6 kilograms of precious metals, 40,800 square meters of carpets, 56.3 tons of threads, 295,500 square meters of engineering materials, 461,100 kWh of electricity, 21 tons of fishes, 5,201 cubic meters of building stones, 2,920 tons of wheat flour, 2,328 tons of silver and lead concentrate, 90 tons of tin concentrate, 2,328 tons of zinc concentrate, etc.
